Lara Croft, the fiercely independent daughter of a missing adventurer, must push herself beyond her limits when she finds herself on the island where her father disappeared.
Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) is fun if not silly ride through the adventures of video game hero Lara Croft. When the video game Tomb Raider was first release it was during the misogynistic 90’s when a female action hero was drawn to look more like a caricature than a real woman.
Thank goodness we have made strides since then and even the most recent video games and this movie de-emphasizes a heightened sexuality for a heroin that young girls today can look up to.
Overall Tomb Raider is a fun big budget action movie that requires you to leave your brain at the door. If you can do this, it will be worth your time.
There are no specific references to faith or spirituality in the film. There is am emphasis placed upon the relationship Lara has with her departed dad but no inferences to an afterlife are mentioned.
